In a vacuum, I don't think banning a handful of games infringes any rights, even if I think it's a pretty dumb thing to do. I'm not Russian so truthfully I can't speak for what the LGBT Russian experience is like but I will say that I think it's outright immoral to ban works that may contain depictions of LGBT people although unlike other people in this thread I don't think it's done for the purpose of feeling more 'macho' or whatever Russia is at war, and war is first fueled by the people of the nations, but if your people have no loyalty to you then you don't have fuel for your war machine, and I believe that is the main reason for Russia to ban these works as they do depict a culture different from theirs I think if the Russian people were to believe that life outside of Russia would be better for them, they wouldn't support its nation as they'd have no reason to, and with no support there wouldn't be resources to wage war with. I'm not someone who's LGBT so I can't ever speak for them but I think people should have the right to live as they please and should be judged for their actions and not their background. I understand how it relates to human rights and I absolutely think any discrimination against a group of people, regardless of the group in question, is not just stupid but outright oppressive. Initially I was simply curious as to what rights this could've violated but honestly I think at this point this is getting way out of topic and I've no interest in mundane online drama so as sorry as I am to have upset you, wether due to bad wording or ignorance, I'm not gonna pursue this any further but I hope my intentions are clear now. I asked a question, not shat on your cereal. If they can come off as that then I'm sorry but as I've said not only was that not my intention, but the way you responded was completely alien to me. There's nothing purposefully ignorant in any of my posts. I decided to back off initially because I know better than to engage on people that are upset but jumped back in because you said i was backing off when 'presented with a challenge' which was not the case at all. I simply asked how banning these games was infringing any right and you instantly jumped at me. I'm not trying to create any framing either. I've not been shooting for a quick gotcha, I jumped in because I saw both Fallout and Divinity in the list of banned games, both games which I dearly love and are to my knowledge extremely popular on Russia, and with Fallout specially there's no LGBT representation in the first 4~ games as I can remember and so I wanted to see what people were saying about that if it was true at all because as I've said the older games dont have any LGBT stuff in them. I'm sorry if my first post came out as sassy, it wasn't my intention and while I'm still certain the post wasn't aggressive I think I can see how it can come off as disingenous or malicious, I do absolutely disagree with it being obtuse though as I've said it quite literally asks which right was being infringed but again I understand how it can come off as wrong so i guess that last point is moot. "Video and computer games distributed on any type of media must not contain information expressed in an indecent form that offends human dignity and public morality, a clear disrespect for society, the state, official state symbols," document.
